harvard.

I just called them about when they will start emailing decisions and they told me 'the end of this month'. I asked them if i could get my decision expedited, and they told me that harvard does expedite. :)

guess it's going to be a long month.

I think that just means that you're guaranteed to find out by then. People seemed to receive their decisions around May 19th last year.

i just want to find out from them and yale already. its such a long wait. hopefully we'll start getting stuff back around when theyve found out in previous years.

I think admissions keeps giving us the official deadline because they're sick of answering persistent calls about it. I'm guilty of bothering them myself. I called Dartmouth like twice a week for several weeks and they kept telling me "mid-May" when the decision actually came on May 3rd.

It's funny I always pictured Yale and Harvard students as these people too busy to do anything else other than study but here you guys are posting on cc. I dunno I think its funny and cool to know you guys are going to be in the ivy league (the creme de la creme) and are somewhat normal. People say it doesn't matter where you complete your undergrad degree but I'm pretty sure you have a leg up on the competition when your degree says Harvard or Yale on it.

hehe. or maybe it's because we're so fed up with how long this process seems to have taken ;) I don't know, I figure that if you ask for the application earlier than everyone else, you should at least let people know earlier, not later (or sometimes LAST). and i agree with sweetsangria, when i called, the person who answered sounded like a student and also sounded like she was going to kill me when i asked when we would find out....somehow i think harvard sticks by its word of may 15-june 1 (this however, does not mean i wont be checking my email incessantly for the next week)

Yeah, I'm not counting on receiving anything before Monday, May 16th...then the frantic e-mail checking will begin!

The person who answers the phone definitely sounds like a student; she giggles too.

haha, yeah, mine sounded positively bored. I just wish harvard was a little more specific, (like other schools that have posted messages about dates, etc) I mean, they haven't even updated the admissions site since late march (the message for the freshman is still there). I want to scream WHAT ABOUT THE TRANSFERS??? ah well, I'm sure i'll survive the next week and a half-two weeks. I just might not be the best person to be around come the 16th ;)

The individual who occupies the front desk is, indeed, a student.

now that yale is out of the picture I might as well just get this thread bumped

why oh why are we last??? (and a further why oh why if we had to turn ours in first)

The answer to this question and many others, certaincertainties:

Because it's Harvard. :D

le sigh. I know. still a pain though...

hey that's not nearly as bad as Amherst. their deadline was Feb. 1st! and the reply date, of course, is "late may to early june"

bump!

how will receive Harvard's decision...will the day they send the letter be when they also send the email?

I am hoping next week they will tell us! Mid May right!

god, if they don't tell us next week i might collapse into a pile of nerves! I'm only applying to h, and it seems like almost every other school has notified their applicants already (ok, except Amherst, which is absolutely ridiculous)

Just a question, if certain information has changed on my resume (like things that are good), should I notify them, or is that just a waste of time at this point?

do it, certaincertainties!

dear certaincertainties,

I think it would have to be really big news for you to contact them at this point...like a huge award or distinction that is ridiculously awesome. it might be too late at this point, but if it is amazing info, then go for it.

I was contemplating the same about the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship ($90,000 for 3 years) but if they were going to admit me only for money I'd rather go somewehere else...
