Columbia's Inferiority Complex

Facts in context >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Facts in a vacuum.

e.g. Penn's expansion acreage > Columbia's. Wholly irrelevant. How much square footage of useable lab, classroom, and office space will be built?

I couldgo back and pick your posts apart, but I don't feed trolls anymore than I have to.

ConfucianNemisis, my facts are generally pretty objective. And it's FAR easier for me to pretty much demolish the boa****l claims made on this site about the wonders of Columbia than it's for you to challege my posts. Why....because I don't have an ax to grind:-)

I just take pleasure on these boards in a few areas;

taking you Columbia trolls down a notch by reminding you (with example after example) that you are NOT an equal to HYSPM despite all the crap you like to post

affirming that Cornell is not a TTT, but is one of the very best acedemic centers in the country

standing up for Penn

More importantly, providing objective data to future students for their own decision making.

Also, love to take shots at Princeton just for fun LOL

1) I've been acused of penn fan-boyism for telling the trolls to stop subjectively arguing that in their opinion it's HPYC. It's not. Unless it's caltech.

2) See above. I think ranking is a retarded ego massaging exercise.

3) I on the other hand enjoy taking down Penn trolls a notch. For example, this 5th oldest school nonsense that you folks cling to for dear life. It's amusing to watch the ferocity with which some penn trolls defend this 'fact' that involves quite a bit of rhetorical posturing. Additionally, y'all were in fact Penn State at one point :)

Well the problem is that most of that "objective data" you just tossed out really should have no bearing on which schools high school students pick. You'll enjoy this column: http://media.www.columbiaspectator.com/media/storage/paper865/news/2007/05/02/Opinion/Senior.Column.That.Time.The.Numbers.Lied.To.Me-2890908.shtml

And yes, we can agree on this last point. Princeton is a rancid cesspool.

I like the Yale T-Shirt (yes, T-shirts again) the best:

Harvard Sucks!
Princeton Doesn't Matter!

(yes, the Elis have an inferiorty issue too)

My favorite shirt I've seen of late was one of those:
Yale (big on the front)
Because Not Everyone Can Get Into Skidmore (on the back)....

All I could think of was...
A. Skidmore assertings itself as a rival to Yale...LMAO
B. "Skidmore (big on front)
For Students Who Aren't Clever Enough To Think Of Their Own T-Shirt Idea"
(doesn't everyone remember the MIT-b/c not everyone can get into Caltech prank?)

http://www.columbia.edu/cu/pr/special/nowin.html

Not gonna get into this fight. But I do want to point out the way that Columbia claims Nobel winners may be different from how some others claim them. I know Stanford doesn't count the way Columbia does. For example, note how some of them taught at Columbia at some point of their lives but weren't really at Columbia when they won their Nobel. Some did master at Columbia but it's unlikely that the work that got them Nobel was done at Columbia. Stanford doesn't claim any of these.

Screw all you guys, I want my Columbia t-shirt.

I just counted.
I have 2 Columbia T's, 5 Hoodies...no, acutally 6...and a hat!

Did you get them for free?

Columbia doesnt give you free stuff. Unless of course you count the Blankets emblem'd with "Columbia" on it... that we got after promising to pay $50,000/year in tuition XD.

Hell, I didn't even get that.

We got the Lattimore translation of The Iliad for free. Top that, Princeton!

Princeton had a faculty member, Fagles, who TRANSLATED The Iliad and won a prize for it. Top that, Columbia!

Columbia awarded that prize to him! Top that, Princeton!

r-o-f-l. 10-char

It's true if you're referring to the Pulitzer-- which Columbia administers.

Columbia College will never use the bastard Princeton-spawned Fagles translation, no matter how much the J-School fawns over it.

LOLOLOLOLOL TO VESALVAY'S COMMENT omg that was so awesome....okay bye. Wait actually side note...not picking sides but I (the general ignorant public) didnt even know about columbia until last year (I only knew HYPMS and B as schools ppl like to apply to, and of course I didnt even know which schools were ivy league because....noone should care what label a school has.........::begins to reread The Fountainhead::

Wow... B (as in Brown?) You didn't hear of Columbia... haha

You're on that waitlist for a reason :P

I'm glad you enjoyed my comment :P

Lol, you guys give the impression that you feel insecure about yourselves and therefore need to belittle other ivies for self-gratification/consolation. It only serves to reinforce the inferiority complex you feel about your school.

No hard feelings intended.

I'm pretty sure laneb's comment was a joke. If anything, it shows that we don't take ourselves nearly as seriously as students at other schools do.
