So apparently one must take SAT II's to have a better edge.... Ok. Well, now that I found out, I am going to. I plan to take my first SAT in May (i've been prepping). And I WAS goign to take my second SAT in June to be completely done with the SATS. However, I must get in my SAT II's before the ED date which is November I believe. So i'll have 2 more test dates, June and October. Should I take my II's in June and SAT in october? or vice versa?

Thanks for your comments.

Choice 1:

June: SAT
October: SAT II's (probably 2)

Choice 2:
June: SAT II's
October: SAT *Which means summer I will have to think about them.... argh.

One must take the SAT II's to have a better edge? More like one must take the SAT II in order to be accepted to a school that requires SAT II's! And of course, if colleges say that they recommend it, that's the signal that you should take it. The answer is clear.

Take the one you're more prepared for first, and take the one you're not as prepared for later.

I would take the SAT IIs in June. If you're only taking your first SAT in May, that would not give you much time to get your results back and learn from your mistakes, if you were to take the SAT I again in June.

so this question kind of branches off the OP's:
If you take 2 sat II tests in june, but the EA/ED school you apply to in the fall requires 3, can you send in another sat II test from october?

I'd take SAT IIs in June and if necessary retake the SAT in October. That way you could possibly be done with SATs for good in June and you'll be taking the SAT IIs right around the time you finish the corresponding class.
