I was just playing around with my Naviance account (like we're supposed to:)), and I said what the heck and just signed the FERPA form and put the common app usename and password in there. However they don't let me check what I typed after I accidentally clicked submit. I'm 100% sure the common app account I typed is incorrect. How can I reset this account on Naviance? Thanks.

I need to know this too!

Ask your GC. I think schools can see into everyone’s Naviance account because they can go in and change features so maybe your GC can go in and fix/check that you linked up with the right password.

Wow. A new layer of troubles for our Seniors by adding in Naviance for intraschool high school statistics.

You MUST know how to use Naviance before clicking buttons or a lot of kids are going to have trouble and guidance counselors will be doing a lot of “re-do’s” (if they’re done).

Might want to let your college(s) know of your Naviance mishap.

I’m not the one with the problem, my friend is.

She asked the GC who didn’t know what to do and told her that they could only fix it when she sends off her application! D:

Ask the head of guidance then and ask them to contact Naviance if they don’t know. Explain that you don’t want to send off an application if it has the wrong password/user name. Somehow, somewhere it is in there and can be either fixed or “changed” by re-entering, like every other website.

It really doesn’t make sense that they say they can’t fix it before you send it but somehow they are able to figure it our later?

Does Naviance not validate the commonapp user name/password?

Does it mean one can enter any user name/pwd and it accepts?

How can one see / check what was entered?

If its linked wrongly does that mean the recommendations will go to a wrong id?

One can link it correct and assume so … still through some typos, etc it could be wrong. How can one be 100 percent sure that he linked it correct if it accepts anything? what if the keyboard had some error??

Well, you can have a different username and password for each so it may not.

I guess one way to test Naviance and the common ap for that matter is enter the wrong info and see what it directs you to do.

So, does it validate and check the common app user name and pwd combo?

I have no idea. I guess the only way to really know if it is working correctly is to ask naviance or the common ap to sent something eg your teacher rec and see if the school receives it.

Since the issue is getting the right ones in there. I would see what happens if you keep trying to enter the wrong one. Does it give a contact email to fix/change the username/pass.

If it gives you a contact email, then email them and explain the problem.

If the common app info you input was incorrect, your counselor needs to sign in, pull up your account, go to the edocs tab, and click on reset consent . Once you do that, the next time you sign in, it will ask for the common app username and password again.

How does one know that he has input it correctly or incorrectly? Say there was a problem in the keyboard or something … Where can one see his/her credentials that have been entered?

I have the same issue!! ugh!

go straight to your counselor!! you dont want it to approach your deadline and your teachers cant send in your forms

Don’t worry! Before your counselor can send your support documents electronically, he/she has to hit a “sync” tab which links the common app username/password you provided on your FERPA waiver with your actual Common App username/password. If it doesn’t “sync” your guidance counselor will let you know (since he/she cannot submit your documents until it is “synced”). You will need to provide your common App username/password to your counselor (so they can fix it) OR ask your counselor to reset your FERPA waiver, then you can sign the FERPA again, this time putting in your correct CommonApp username/password. It isn’t a big deal and is an easy fix.
