It asks for the position/leadership and then for your participation years. Does that mean that you only list the years you were officer? (Like, what if I only held a position in my senior year but I participated in the club all four years?) Or do I have to detail which years I was only a member and which years I was an officer?

Also, if I've had an interruption in my education, but I participated in a similar activity (at one school, we had an official orchestra. At the new school, there wasn't an official orchestra but it was a music club and included an orchestral section), do I list them as two separate activities or group them into one?

Thank you all!

Bump for your first question…

And if you can, definitely group together your ECs if they’re similar enough.

I listed my position currently and checked off all years I participated. If I had more than one position throughout the years, I placed the grade in parentheses. For example:

Model UN - President (12), VP (11)
Years of Participation: 10, 11, 12

or

DECA - Vice President
Years of Participation: 10, 11, 12

hey… I needed a help! If I Actually have most of my activities about community service in different clubs ( suppose 4), then should I list all them on one??? Or put all those leadership positions (though all are about community service) on 4 different and describe major accomplishment on each one???

^bump for good question.

I’ve been taking piano for nine years, and i’ve entered a few competitions each year, but they’re different events. Should I group them all together under “piano”, or could I get away with listing them as separate activities? Also, could I just list something like taking piano or guitar lessons with no awards or positions of leadership as an activity?
