Ive heard that you are more likely to get in somewhere specifically using a colleges application than the commonapp + supplement. Is this true or not? Thanks

I don't want to say definitely not, but I'm positive that using the Common App won't decrease your chances of getting in any way.

Can't cite exactly where I heard that (maybe the common app site, maybe a college book) but I definitely remember reading that from a viable source; either way, take this with a bit of salt.

oh. well thanks for the reply. Im glad to hear that since I plan on using it for mostly every college.

The reason I asked is because one of my friends is filling out each colleges indiviually since he heard doing common app shows less interest and less chance of admission

There's no difference.

^agreed

Colleges pay to use the common app so they aren't going to put students at a disadvantage for using what they provide. It benefits both the school and the applicant since it means less complete applications for the student and more applicants for the college.

It's against NACAC principles to treat applicants differently based on the type of application they complete.

okay good. Thanks for all your replies and Im glad that I can freely use comon app now without wondering if my chances are lowered
