Common app essay help??!

Okay, I am not sure what to write about for the common application. I am applying to ivy leagues and I need to get in! I have a few ideas of what to write about:
1) I am a triplet- (I have five siblings)
2) I am a direct descendent of the mayflower- (i.e. General George McClellan is my g-g-g-g grandfather!)
3) I had a German foreign exchange student living with me
4) I play the violin
5) I speak Chinese as my foreign language
6) I run Cross Country

I just don't know where to take these ideas and what to write about with them. Any suggestions are accepted! Even if you might have ideas that don't have anything to do with these! Please help me! Thanks!

The triplet once would probably be an identity essay or of the like, this is often overdone except with twins, I’ve read dozens of them when reading essays for my college. Unless well written, try to avoid.

This one is unique and can probably be interesting, but what would you write about, I had a friend who met Obama, and wanted to write an essay on it, but he couldn’t without giving a lecture on what you “realized” from and the thought provoked by the happening.

This one is done alot, but most of the ones on this topic are not only interesting and unique since every foreign exchange student is different.

NO, unless this is truly your passion in life, avoid this

Same as above

6, Sports are interesting, if well written you can try it, yet realize that cross country is a commonly written sport and unless you can top others, maybe you should avoid it.

I have a similar question. I’m applying as a transfer student. In the common app there are only 2 questions. The first one is about an extracurricular activity experience, and the second one is under the personal essay tab, but the question ask: 2- Please provide a statement (appr. 250-500 words) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. Should I write my personal essay addressing this question??
I also think that 500 words is not enough to talk about myself, I need more than that express who i’m and what my goals are.
Please give some advice, some hints, Please. Thank you very much!!!

To be honest, you can upload a 500000 word document, and admission officers and essay readers like me wont even notice a 520 word essay from a 500 word one since the documents are converted to pdf files with no word counts. However realize good writers are capable of expressing everything they know with few words. And do you really want to **** your reader off? Chances are, your essay wont be spectacularly interesting that I would want to read it. So if its obviously over 500 words, trust me, we know the approximate size. If you submit a 700 word essay, then I’ll read it, but I wont be happy, especially if it repeats itself or is unecessarily wordy. But the point is, trust yourself, if you really think you can craft an amazing essay but go over the limit - (do you really want us to think that you dont follow directions). But if you can, do it.

My friend once got a 1500 word essay, and I asked him what he thought, he replied “Ill read it because I have to, then I’ll throw it out.”
