Hey CC, I just want to know your reaction on my topic
I chose #4 on the common app:
Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, and ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
Before I tell you about what I am going to write, let me briefly tell you about myself.
- international student, from korea (south of course)
- born and raised under a father who serves in the military ( he is an high-ranking officer)
- for 18 years, i lived inside the military bases near DMZ (demilitarized zone) with the exception of a year, I even lived around JSA ( search it up if you don’t know)
- So, i am really into this reunification of south and north korea
So, I am basically going to write it like this: (just a gist, not th actual essay)
This part is about how I came to wanting to solve the problem and significance to me.
- In childhood, I was a kid who was jealous of my father’s job that require him to be at work instead of spending time with me
- Tried to solve the problem of him spending more time with me, but later on figured out that it is more complicated than it appears to be
- Realized the sophistication of north and south korea’s realtionship but felt strongly to solve this problem
- Therfore, it’s resolution will not only mean that I’ll get to spend more time with my father but also mediate nation-level problems (human rights, world war 3 potential area, etc)
