Will it hurt you to use an essay written for one of the two UC prompts for the common app essay "topic of your choice"? I mean, will the admission officers view you as lazy or something, and reduce the chance of you getting in? Especially for competitive schools like an ivy league... help please?

somehow, I doubt it. if it's a good essay, it's a good essay.

I see... thanks :O). They wont mind even if I was open about it? Like "This is an essay I wrote during the UC application process, responding to prompt 1. Here it is!"

Um. remove that first part lol. Just remove it. If you don't then that'd be lazy.

yeah, just leave out that part altogether. just put whatever you put for the UC apps, no disclaimer or anything

lol i was actualy wondering about the same thing xD using 1 of my uC essays for comm app~~ =P

the thing is that UC doesnt even use common application so other colleges that use common applications won't really know if you recycled your essay or not....so i dont see any damage in using your UC essay for common app.

im sure a lot of people do this, so be careful. there's a good chance they can tell.

lol, i'm using the same essays i used for UC for ALL my schools. But I think they're good, and shows me in a good light; and that's the only thing that matters, right?

I"m re-using mine as well =x

That's fine, lol. Some people put the prompt in italics at the top though, so the adcom doesn't get confused. That'd be bad :P
