So, I chose to only apply to my primary college. However on the common app, I can't get rid of this line saying "Alternate anticipated major within alternate college/school" with some random major listed underneath. When I go in to edit the section, there's not even an option to edit that line. It clearly says that I chose "No" when it asked if I was going to use the alternate admissions option, but it still shows an alternate major for a supposed alternate college. It would make sense if it asked for a second choice major within the college I'm applying for, but because I can't go back in and choose a major, I get the sense that this is a glitch. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? I've tried all the basics with deleting everything and putting it all back in, signing out, etc.

I did. and firstly they asked me to “complete the Cornell University questions section again.” which I did and it didn’t work. and later they said “For some reason it is asking you to change your major. You should contact your admissions office and see if there is a reason you are receiving this error.”…so should I contact admissions office?T-T
That’s ridiculous that admissions office can solve the technical issue for me while CA support can not…T-T

don’t worry, everyone this year will probably have some kind of issue with the commonapp at some point. short answer: contact commonapp support and if they don’t fix it in time, email cornell admisions.

how it went for me: i contacted the commonapp, and they…kind of fixed it. when they removed the alternate stuff, they removed my actual major as well lol. because i was running out of time, i ended up leaving my app as it was and just submitted it. then, i emailed cornell admissions and they were really understanding because it was out of my control.

sure, deadlines are important, but these glitches really aren’t that big of a deal. if they don’t fix it in time, just submit your app anyway. the lady said that their concern was that you SUBMITTED you application. this is because if they’re missing anything from you or if there’s confusion caused by a glitch, they’ll contact you (they contacted us EDers in mid-november) and let you make up the missing stuff.

you contacted CA tech support and they told you go call the admissions office? they should have transferred you to some specialist or whatever. that’s what happened to me

Alright, Thank you so much!!!commonapp supports don’t even fix this for me and just asked me to contact the admission office…Poor CA!!! anyway thank you for sharing your experience!!^^
