hey…I got like 10 thousand answers for this question wen I asked my friends…so I decided to ask here

what is the MAX number of words for a common app essay…I doing the one which asks about a sig. person in my life and their influence…and im not sure what the max number of words …or at least the range of number of words in the essay

also…

for barnard…wen are you guys sending the supplements…cuz …there is no specific deadline…and I know I wont be doen by jan 1 cuz Im working on others…that have a deadline…blaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

let me know if you know the max number info!
thanks!

there is no max. a good range is 500-600, but 700 is not too many if its really good.

i was under the impression that even though the common app says no deadline, its due on jan 1 with the rest of it. regardless, i'll submit my supplement on or before the 1st.

yeah, i don't think there is a max. i think it's OK if your essay is a little over 700 b/c my essay was exactly 792 words, and i was accepted early decision this year.

The supplement is DEFINITELY due at the time of the rest of the app. I limited my Common App essay to a page, single-spaced because that was the requirement for Georgetown, but 800 sounds like a good max.

wait!..but on the common app website..it says there is no actual deadline for the suplement...so I took it like..oh I can turn it in like 2 or 3 days later...

is that totally wrong?...
would that be consdered to be a invalid application cuz the common app is not turned in the same time as the supp.

darn it......I guess Im not going out today

I tried to keep mine at around 500 words, because that turned out to be one page, not double spaced. You just have to remember that they're reading A LOT of essays, so it's better if you are concise.
