Common App Short Essay on Longboarding or Volleyball?

<p>So I was thinking of writing my common app short essay on longboarding. Basically about how I love riding, bombing hills, etc. and how it calms me down and teaches me perseverance when I fall down and get hurt. But it dawned on me that longboarding isn't really an extracurricular activity for school? Can I still write about it?</p>

<p>Or I was thinking I could write an essay about how I play volleyball and I broke a few school records this year and was a league all-star. For this one though, I thought that many girls could write about how they were good at volleyball in high school but not a lot of people would write about longboarding. </p>

<p>I love both volleyball and longboarding but I'm leaning towards writing about the longboarding. Help?</p>

<p>I completely agree that longboarding is the thing to write about. For volleyball, if you want to put in stuff like all star and school records, either put it in the EC section (or put “see additional info”, then put a Volleyball EC heading in there and bullet out your awards, records, etc.). Cuz that EC space is teeny tiny. You are right… there are lots of volleyball players, and few longboarders. Be sure you explain what it is. :)</p>
