<p>So, my current situation (probably a fairly common one):</p>

<p>My common app essay (topic of my choice): 1100 words
My Amherst essay: 750-ish words</p>

<p>I know the essay is a very important component in the application to Amherst, and I’m wondering how strictly they enforce the limit of 250-500 on the supplement. </p>

<p>I’m still trying to trim the CA essay.</p>

<p>Don't worry about it. I didn't really count the #'s, but I kept it down, because nobody wants to read all that.....</p>
