My son is working on his Common App supplemental essays for the colleges that require them.
Just wondering how long they should be. They cap the main essay at 650 words max, but he noticed some of the colleges don't have any word cap or suggested word cap on their supplementals. I'm assuming it should be slightly shorter than the main essay, but not sure.
Any advice?

You should look up the school’s website. Usually they mention the word limit in the CA supplement too. Each school is different, and each question/essay is different even from the same school.

Okay, thanks. He checked their website, but it’s not on there or on the Common App either.

Then, it probably has no limit.

My son found out there is a limit after typing and exceeding the limit of this college’s supplemental essay! After 500 words, the Common Ap cut him off and said something like, “You have exceeded the word limit for this essay.” No warning, nothing on the school’s website, or anything like that. So, for anyone else reading this thread, be aware that you can be cut off without notice!

If it on the common app the word limit is 650 words. There have been some issues with the common app lately check there facebook page it should if you have problems

They probably left out that information on the supplement page.
