Hey guys this was already posted in the Common Application forum by Bianca2010 (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/common-application/738969-common-app-2009-2010-up.html), but I know that not everyone visits that forum as often as this one, so I decided to relay the messag here: the 2009-2010 Common App is up. Good luck to everyone applying to colleges.

I just noticed this when browsing through it.

I wonder if counselors would ever check this box…

Holy crap, holy crap, it’s up, this is it.

Oh, wait, I’m only class of '11. :D

I want to apply to the University of Chicago. I didn’t last time I had the chance.

Lol I already got this thing a few weeks ago from Harvard.

Probably only a good counselor who actually cares about your future. Anyone know of any? :P

^ Me.

I have an amazing counselor. But she only has to deal with like …30 seniors a year. Haha. XD

At my school we only have 150 kids in grades 9-12. =/

But she gets us amazing college reps to come visit our school. (Duke being one them.) And there’s only like …eight people who sit in on the presentations. XD

Dang, you are lucky…I believe my counselor has like 400 total kids or so…maybe more. Out of those, she has like 100+ seniors.

Saw it a while back, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it XD

We have quite a few counselors at our school, and they are all nice and try to be helpful but in reality, they mostly just tell us stuff we already know. But I love my school, every fall we get representatives from many colleges, including HYPSM.

crap dude that looks intense. i am confused we have to mail it? or is there an online option?

Is there room on the Common Application to describe any AP courses that you have “self-studied?” Is that written on the actually transcript?

What if one apply common application to a school that had ED, EA but didn’t know it…

Uh, potentially stupid question: why do they care about parents’ degrees and occupation? And siblings’?

Wow. I looked up the application for McGill… its online, and it takes like 10 minutes to do. No essays, no SATs. Just fill out your info and pick your major or whatever. Good luck to you guys =)

Statistical purposes probably. Same as on standardized tests.

Wow really? I always wanted to start with applications, guess it doesn’t hurt to apply.

^

Wow really? Well it doesn’t hurt to apply, and I really have been looking forward to doing applications…

Where you saying my question is stupid? I’m not asking about degrees, I’m asking about early action etc…

^ I wasn’t saying your question was stupid, but that mine probably was. I’d thought I’d missed something that would become completely obvious the minute it was pointed out to me. I was (still kind of am) confused about why it is necessary to fill out information about your family’s personal information regarding occupations and degrees. In my understanding shouldn’t the questions for statistical purposes be optional?
My post was in no way related to your question :)
