I have completed my essay. I have a couple of quesitons on the format of the paper itself.

Is there a specific font needed?
Is there a specific font size needed?
Should I put my name on the paper?
Should I put my social security number on the paper?

I sent in my Common App to Stanford for EA a few days ago, and here's what I've learned.

The essay fits in as a sort of attachment, much like an email attachment - it makes up the last few pages of the Common App packet excluding the supplement.

As such, you won't need to put a SS# or name.
A generic font will work - I used 12 pt. Times New Roman, don't use anything elaborate, I think Arial is fine too.

"Should I put my name on the paper?
Should I put my social security number on the paper?"
You name is generated automatically on the uploaded paper. Your Common App ID is also generated automatically.
Double-spacing is much easier on the eyes. Don't go crazy with fonts - 10 is too small. Just use Times New Roman.
Think of making it easier for your reader.

Can you use the new .docx format? I’m worried that some admission offices will have trouble opening it, or do not have the recent microsoft word.

I’m so relieved that I’m not the only one who wondered about this! I’m just doing 12pt. Times New Roman; Double Spaced; Title underlined, centered, and 14pt.

Does anyone know how to format the essay in the CA so paragraphs show. I’ve tried several web suggestions with no success. It looks like one continuous paragraph when you preview in the PDF. Thanks.
