<p>So for the extended essay portion of the CommonApp, I decided to go with a topic of my choice. Thing is, I want to use an essay I wrote from the prompt of the school I am no longer applying to (it is a very peculiar and original topic). My teacher fell in-love with the essay, and said that it would surely help to get me into the school, not guarantee a spot, seeing as it's a very selective school.</p>
<p>I was wondering if it's a good idea to use an essay that was excellent, but is a very abstract topic I obtained from a specific school, or should I go with the safe route and use an essay that fits to one of the CommonApp topics that is a tier lower?</p>
