Communcations Undergrad Programs

I'm interested in a career in advertising, marketing, public relations, etc.
Therefore, what schools have the best communication programs? I've heard USC, Northwestern, Upenn, are all good. Any more? Any ones that stand out??

You might want to consider American, GWU, University of Missouri, UT, and Northeastern. Your stats have to be good enough though.

For those careers the school you attend plays a secondary role to the experience you get while an undergrad. So does your major; “communication” isn’t going to teach you any magic tricks that lead to career success. Internships and other related experience is going to be key. This is tied to some extent to which college you attend, since some internship programs may recruit from a select group of schools. However a motivated student at almost any school who is willing to be aggressive and get experience in college will have a strong start. A summer job after frosh year at a small firm in your hometown and a better job after sophomore year make you a strong candidate for a prestigious summer internship after your junior year, even compared to someone at an Ivy or similar who doesn’t have any experience yet.

I know this isn’t the typical advice you hear on these forums, where kids think that somehow getting into a “top” school is going to make their future; but as a HS student you can call people working in those fields in your city and explain you’d like to meet for coffee and get their advice on how to prepare for a career in their field and I bet you’ll hear what I said echoed.
