I want to study communications in colleges. And I want to stay in California. I want a smallish school between 5-25k. I am really interested in UCSC. Does UCSC have a good communications/journalism/media studies/public relations department? (I wrote all these types of majors because schools have different titles for this department).
I know USC, UCLA UC Berkley all have great communications but I want a smaller school than those.
Don’t know your stats but, I’d say Sonoma and Chico State are both worth a look.
What is your GPA etc?
GPA unweighted 3.49 from a private school. 3.84 weighted. ACT 26. I have work experience and extra circulars. Yearbook is my life so thats why i want to go in for communications. I am have had editor positions and i am the 16-17 editor in chief
With those stats, UCSC could go either way. A stronger ACT would improve your chances. Either way, a compelling essay is in order.
UCR and UCM are both your size range and worth a look. Your stats make you a strong applicant for both.
SDSU, CSULB are good but,too large to consider ‘smallish’. Sonoma and Chico (as noted above) should probably be your prime targets among CSUs.
As for Privates LMU and USD are also worth a look.
Good luck.
