Communication/Rhetoric Ph.D

How does Wisconsin-Madison's ph.d. program in communication compare to other top programs? I'm more interested in the rhetoric/critical theory aspect of communication, and I'm waiting to hear back from most of my schools.

I know that Penn and USC are ranked as the top of the top, but is Madison not an excellent program as well? Is one better off in the Midwest for the critical theory/rhetorical aspect of communication ph.d. programs?

Though an undergraduate was considering UW Madison for Communications, there are links in the thread that would help you.

Check out NCA’s 2004 Rankings for PhD programs in communications.
Google it and I am sure you will fine it!

Thank you! The links were very helpful, and it was actually rather interesting to read the discussion from the “undergraduate” perspective–particularly since graduate students will eventually be teaching or working with the undergrads in some way.

And thanks for the NCA rankings, though they don’t seem to rank the branch of communication that I’d be going into… very cool, nonetheless!
