hi i'm new to this site and i think this is an amazing website for people like me who is tormented everyday by the thought of picking the right school.

I got into UCSD , hopefully i'll get into UCSB and i have a transfer agreement with Santa Clara University

My major is communications. I know some people think it is not a great major, but i simply have a passion for it. (and it's not cuz i'm lazy i'm actually very good at math, always passed all my classes with 95 - 100 % and science but they don't attract me as much)

My question is, since it's not such a popular major, i want to go to a school which will give me a better chance of finding a job and making a living.

I am mostly into academics, do not care much if the school is not a big party town or anything.

I need some advice i'm so confused! Some people say UCSD and UCSB are very known schools everywhere, but some people tell me that there is nothing like going to a private school getting better attention from your teachers and stuff.

Do you guys have any advise for me? should i go for a UC (SD or SB) or santa clara university.

UCSD would be your best bet for Communications, as it is a liberal school. Same goes for UCSB, but it doesn't come close to UCSD's respect. Santa Clara U is a great school, but don't go for communications, it's such a waste of money and I doubt you'd get a lot of attention coming out from there with that major. If you go there, make the most of it, major in comunications and double up in business or econ or something theyre known for.

heey why do people think Comms is a bad major? lol. I am the same major I just love it because i can be practically anything. And for UCLA it's THE most impacted major so it kind of annoys me when biz-econ majors say... ooh it's so hard. Ok, well mine's harder... lol. Venting...

but samK2987 is right. UCSD would be the best bet for you and the city in and of itself will provide great internship opportunities. Good luck!

:)

I think impacted major means how popular the major is; this is probably why communications is so impacted at UCLA and Berkeley, because people believe it's easy to get into. While Communications is a versatile major, I would assume it serves no direct link to jobs; It seems like a subject that's great to minor in, or maybe double major with.

thanks a lot i appreciate the comments, UCSD sounds like a great school, and i plan on doing either a double major on political science or at least a minor in law and society.

Im already in UCSD i visited the campus and i loved it, and i think i should really go there, it's what i really want, and you guys comments just gave me a little extra push to decide that i should deffinetly go there.
