Communications Major NFA?

I applied to FSU for biology and got accepted. I realized this was not the path I wanted to take, so I changed my major to public relations. I checked back a couple of weeks ago and was accepted into the major "Communication, NFA Lower Division". What does NFA mean? Does this mean I was accepted to the Public Relations program?

NFA = Not Formally Admitted. Lower division means that you are a freshman or sophomore by academic standing.

Communications (and pretty much every major within that college, if not all of them) is known as a limited-access major. Basically, while you can take classes towards the major, you aren’t officially admitted to that major. Normally they accept people after you complete a certain number of credit hours, pre-reqs, etc.

It doesn’t mean that you are in the Public Relations major. In fact, you may never actually get admitted to the major, if your grades or something aren’t good enough. However, you can still take the classes for your major.
