In general, does anyone know whether any] classes taken at a community colleges are weighted to a 5.0 GPA scale instead of the regular 4.0 scale? How would you know which classes these ones are?

Should I talk to the college counselor about GPA/courses/credits or someone else specifically about these quesitons? Also, any grade you recieve at the cc will automatically be placed on your high school official transcript when you send your applications right? I'm probably going to take a few courses that I'm interested at a cc but it will drop my 4.25 weighted GPA down (if I take 4.0 weighted courses) right? Thanks in adv.

It depends on your school system. In my school district, credit is only given for CC courses if that credit is required for graduation. Otherwise, the courses can only be used for advancement.

Meaning that they aren't on your HS transcript. So they shouldn't affect a 4.25, weighted to 5.0 or not. So you'd have to include the CC transcript in your app as well.

You could talk to administration of your HS. Your GC would be most accessible, but if you've talked to him, and he doesn't know anything, keep on going higher up on the foodchain until you get answers. You could also talk to upperclassmen at your school who have already delt with this dilemma.

all courses are based on a 4.0 scale unless its honors. cc courses only show up on hs transcript if you want to get hs credit for it.

if you get a's in your cc classes, your gpa should not go down no matter what gpa you have. also, when you apply for college, the university wants all transcript to every school you attend including hs and cc.
