If I plan to transfer to a better UC like Berkeley or LA, or a private university, is it better to go to community college and transfer or go to UC Riverside and transfer?

10x easier to transfer from ccc.

this is coming from someone who got accepted to both cal and ucla...

go to your local cc!!! much easier.

i go to riverside currently and i chose here over a cc so that i can enjoy the freshman dorm life...i am transfering to sd next year with a 3.3 so i have to say that it isnt too hard to transfer from here to another college

go to CCC...much cheaper

my friend turned down UCR for a ccc. He now goes to Berkeley.

^word.

I've just about finished all my general education courses at my community college as well as all the required courses to major in physics. I got accepted to ucla, uc berkeley, ucsd, uci, etc...

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP units at my community college!

if ur going to riverside with the intent to transfer just make sure u get ur GEs and lower-division courses done by the end of ur sophomore yr. my gpa isnt that great but i got into santa barbara, san diego and LA from riverside.

i would never pay to attend a school for 2 years, with an initial intention of transfering, when i could have just gone to an affordable communiy college that would improve my chances to begin with.

I'd rather stick it out at a CC. Like everyone else said, it's much cheaper...

But also think about this; your UCR GPA will STICK with you if you transfer out to another UC. Your CC GPA will not however, and you will be able to transfer to a UC with a fresh start.

simple answer go to community college

The money isn't really a large concern to my family, so without regards to that, the decision is basically between what seems like a much easier transfer (from community college), and a much better college experience and social life (UCR).

Turned down CSULA for CC and I am now transfering to UCLA. I think it would be faster going to UCR but it would be cheaper at CC

UCR isn't as bad as everyone's making it up to be tho. My friend turned down UCLA for riverside.

WillDO..

this is the second time I read your friend turned down UCLA for riverside..and the second time I can't believe what I'm reading..

lol and this is the second time i'm reading that willdo's friend turned down UCLA for Riverside, and the second time i'm seeing tallkell respond do that, and its the second time i'm responding to it all...basically my point is:its like ground hog day for a second

Just because one insane person turned down UCLA for UCR does not make it a wise choice... This should be a simple decision... just make a list of the pro's and cons..if you even need to go that far.... you want to go to UCLA whats the best way to get there? certainly not UCR... Here is a pathetic analogy.. which is a quicker/easier/safer way to travel to New York from California... to fly east or fly west? duh
