Community College Student Looking to Transfer

So I did not do too hot in high school. I was a kid with a lot of problems in high school, and did not see the point. When I say I did not do too hot, I mean I really did not do too hot. I graduated with a 1.47 GPA. I'm currently enrolled at Community College doing great. I finished with a 3.86 this semester, and plan to do even better next semester. I received 15 credits this semester, and have another 17 waiting for me in Spring 2015. After this year I will have 32 credits. I want to enroll at UMass Amherst for Fall 2014. I was wondering what the chances of getting accepted would be if I applied as a transfer? And if I should apply as a freshman rather than a transfer.

Your college grades will be looked at more heavily than your high school grades and they will notice the big improvement! It also doesn’t hurt to get involved in activities at your current CC. I am also applying as a transfer to UMA for Fall 2015 and I hope you get in! What major are you applying to? Have you also considered applying to Umass Lowell?

Also, you cannot apply as a freshman if you already have college credit.

I’m in the same situation. Transferring from MA community college, but looking to transfer out of state. I also have a 3.86
