Cerritos does. Some classes start on 7/6, but a lot of them are already full.

Does anyone know if the classes we take at a community college the summer before transfer count for GPA/course credits? I wanted to complete the last class in the calc series at my cc, but I have heard that once you are admitted to a UC, you have to take all major classes at the UC after transfer…is this true or not?

Not necessarily…when I was applying to Berkeley, I asked the lady if I can finish up my o-chem series at my community college over the summer before transfer and she said that’s possible.

But that’s for the summer…I’m not sure about the regular year.

Check with you school to make sure.

@saba:

In general, the courses you take the summer prior to transferring do not count when the UC is considering your application. And in general they don’t count towards IGETC. When you say GPA requirements, the answer is also probably no: if you’re talking about a university requirement–as opposed to an admissions requirement–the only GPA the university cares about is your UC GPA.

But your friend isn’t quite right about major requirements having to be taken at a UC. This will be a judgment call that each department makes. Now, whereas your pre-summer classes are automatically given appropriate transfer course credit as a part of admissions, my guess is that you’ll have to appeal to your department when it comes to summer courses. Just a guess. So far my department has been pretty accommodating when it comes to lower division requirements.

Good luck.
