I'm headed off to a Moraine Valley Community College next year for school. I just received my AP score of a 3 on AP Calc AB, and I was a little dissapointed.

My question here, though, is do I get credit for a 3 at my community college? Do I have to take another Math there to get the 'basics' done? I really don't know what I want to do when I'm out of school, but I highly doubt it will have anything to do with Math. I'm just hoping my 3 will be good enough to finally be done with math classes!

CCs are all different depending on state, but I don't think you can get credit for Calculus. I tested out of all the basic math and english courses with my SAT scores (which were quite high) but you can't escape Calculus. That's where I started out. And even if you could, most places I've checked out (to transfer to) want an actual college class grade for Calculus courses and harder.

My sister went to the same Community College as I'm planning to attend, but she received a 4 on her AP test. The college granted her 5 college credits and she never had to take another math course because her major wasn't referring to math. Her major is Spanish. She was able to get out on the CC a semester early, and she had no problem transferring to ISU.

I'm just hoping to receive some credits for my 3?!? I mean I hate standarized testing like that. I don't understand, I worked so hard to earn an A in the class, and then I get a stinking 3 on that test! Arg.

It depends on the college, obviously, so the best way to find this out is to check the school's policies. However, I would expect that you would get credit for it, as a 3 represents a passing score.

Yea, I only went there because I have no idea on what I want to do! AAAAAHHHHHH! I got a full scholarship there for being in the 10 ten percent at my high school, so I took it and ran. They have an 'honors program' there too, so I'm hoping it will be a bit challenging and give me some kind of idea on what I would really like to do when I finish school.

trust me it is G-U-NOT

but, the good thing is I'll only be half-asss deep in debt.

The cup is half full I suppose.

I guess it just saves me some money. Plus, I don't feel ready for the whole college 'scene' yet. I'm thinking about transferring my credits and getting out of the CC early, though, because I've been told even with the advanced programs I won't learn much.
