I’m a HS Senior and I currently have 2,233 hours of Community Service logged. However, I don’t have a great GPA (3.4 weighted). Does anyone know of any national scholarships that would suit me? I really need aid but I’m having trouble finding scholarships that aren’t focused on academia or specific to special programs/schools/states.
It’s unfortunate that you’re only now asking this question. Most outside scholarship programs have closed now, especially the ones handing out top dollar awards for community service.
For the reference of juniors and younger students, if you’ve done significant community service, Coca-Cola, GE-Reagan, AXA Achievement National and AXA Achievement Community, Kohl’s Cares, the Elks Most Valuable Student Competition, and Burger King Scholarships are all very heavily based on community service. As is the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, though that’s more of an awards program that sometimes has monetary awards involved.
@CourtneyThurston, It looks like Kohl’s Cares is discontinued for this year. It’s too bad as it’s one of a few scholarships left that does not take family finance into consideration.
