Community service Qs

Hey there,

So how exactly is a person's community service reported on the transcript? I understand how to fill out if you volunteer with some kind of group, but what if you don't do regular volunteering and do them sort of on a freelance basis. For example, I recently did 24 hours in 3 days volunteering with a church group but I don't do this regularly. How can I report this info?

Also if you signed up with a community service group your senior year, and apply to school in December, but you are contracted under the group during 2nd semester, can you count those hours?

find a common thread-

Another question - if for some reason the college asks to confirm my hours, what if I can't confirm a few of them? For example, the National Honors society at my school lost the sheet of my hours?

Will my application just be totally rejected?

Most won't ask to confirm, but just redo the sheet....that should be easy enough....

by common thread- I mean what connects the volunteering- kids, environment, animals, neighborhood,

there's very little connection between each of them. One of them is for environment, one for teen court, one for church, one for kids... very random.

come on guys, bump!!!

"Also if you signed up with a community service group your senior year, and apply to school in December, but you are contracted under the group during 2nd semester, can you count those hours?"

No, you haven't done those hours. You don't know if you'll be able to do them.

"One of them is for environment, one for teen court, one for church, one for kids... very random."

No, they show an interest in people, and in helping people directly.

ok but how do i report? thanks.

Community service will not appear on your transcript. That is why many people write resumes.
