I was really excited to receive a letter stating that I was only one of two that have been awarded only two full-tuition awards so far based on "outstanding service". however, being one with not very much knowledge about this Scholarship, I was really hoping if someone could explain the scope of this award, as well as its comparison with the Dean's Honor Scholarship, and if there are any perks to this award, such as special opportunities to contribute to New Orleans revitalization, which attracted me to this school in the first place. I'm very excited to receive this award!

It is a new scholarship I would imagine so not a whole lot of people have any experience with it.

Congratulations! That's VERY exciting! Please e-mail the people at Tulane and let us all know what exactly it entails!

I have not heard of this scholarship, but huge congrats -- now go do some needed good work! Lord knows, there are many opportunities in NOLA for that.

thanks everyone for responding to this topic! I really appreciate your congratulations-- I am very excited! Community service is really something I truly believe in. BUT I know I'm not the only one, and that I am very lucky to receive this award. I've posted a message in the Tulane forums, and definitely will let you know of any information I've received! thank you!

BTW, many at Tulane who entered without the community service requirement are already very involved in it since their return after the storm. My son is one of those. If you are interested in getting in touch with him, PM me with your contact info and I'll pass it along to him.
