Community Service Scholarship?

I was recently accepted to DePaul and received the presidential (17k/year) academic scholarship. My academic credentials are pretty good among DePaul students. I was also invited to apply for a Service and Leadership scholarship, and I would apply for the community service scholarship. My service credentials aren’t great honestly. I did a 2 years of service clubs in high school, but I wasn’t in service leadership positions or anything. Are academic credentials considered for this scholarship? The essays are definitely writable for me. How many students are selected for this scholarship?

Also, the DePaul community service scholarships requires a minor in community service studies, and participate in a lot of community service. I was hoping that a current student with this scholarship could shed some light on what it’s like to do this? How much time does it take out of your day? Is it a good program?

Hi! I’m sorry I can’t answer your question, but was hoping maybe you could answer mine. I’m wondering if my son would be in the range to receive the Presidential Scholarship. He has a 4.45 (weighted)/4.0 (unweighted) GPA, a 32 ACT, NHS Member, Eagle Scout, many academic extra-curriculars as well as sports. Went on 2 mission trips. Can you tell me if his #'s are similar to yours? The Presidential Scholarship may be the only way he gets to attend and it is his #1 choice school. Any insight as it what it takes to receive this scholarship would be helpful.
