so I took a tour of depaul a few weeks ago and I love it. However, my only chance of attending depends on scholarship money. I will go into my senior year with a 4.02 gpa, which will go up after senior year, and I got a 29 on the act but I am retaking it and will probably score in the 30-33 range. What are my chances at some of the scholarships like the presidental or the deans? also can you recieve the community service scholarship along with a merrit scholarship?

thankyou

I got the Dean’s Scholarship with these credentials:

3.94 UW GPA
Top 8% Class Rank (43/504)
29 ACT

Volunteer Work:
AZ Attorney General’s Office
Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Work Experience:
Harkins Theatres
Discover Financial Services

As you stand now, you would probably get the Dean’s. If you want the Presidential, you probably need a 31+. As far as the community service scholarship goes, I am almost certain that you may use it with your merit scholarship.

anyone know roughly what it takes to get the community service scholarship? just so I can see if i have a chance. Also, a little off topic but, while on the tour I heard about depaul fest and some of the headliners they have had in the past and future, it sounds awsome. what is depaul fest actually like?

D is just finishing Sr yr and is a Community Service Scholar.

When she appplied to DePaul 4 yrs ago (early action) she got the acceptance letter along with extra paperwork asking if she was interested in applying for one of their 30 Comm Serv slots they reserve every yr for incoming freshman. (she’d been doing local and statewide volunteering since 7th grade.)

I remember she had to submit an essay and I think references by Feb; these essays narrowed down the field to maybe (not sure) 100 applicants? These finalists are picked and then told to show up on-campus on one specific date in March for mandatory one-on-one interview with certain profs who ultimately make the decision.
This is mandatory…no interview=no scholarship.

So if you are looking for some of this money; put your best foot forward in writing about your volunteer service and apply early as the paperwork comes with the acceptance letter and it has to be returned by February of your Sr yr of HS.

If I remember correctly; you cannot receive CS $$ AND another scholarship.

With the scholarship comes the mandatory courses leading to a minor in Community Service Studies and mandatory volunteer work and internship(s) for all 4 yrs and I believe you need to have a C average to keep the scholarship or you lose it.

Hope this helps.

DePaul HANDS OUT money like its nothing, so i’ve heard. I’m pretty sure you’ll get some kind of FA from DePaul since a lot of people i’ve talked to only went to DePaul because of the amount of money they were offered.
