Hey all, first time posting in the forums :D. California resident.
Applied to all of my schools as a CS major, but out of all the UC’s I applied to only got into UCR (wait-listed UCSD and UCI, fingers crossed!) with a 3.88 GPA UW, 1520 SAT, and E.C’s that could’ve been much stronger.
I was however, admitted to Cal Poly Pomona’s CS program. So my options now are between committing to CPP and transferring out of CC (I’ve crossed UCR off the list). I’m torn pretty much 50/50 between the two.
I know that CPP is a solid choice for hands-on learning and gaining practical skills that will land me a career (it’s also the place that I’ve already been admitted to), but I also greatly value the opportunities I may miss out on at a UC.
How viable is transferring from community given my situation? I’m confident that I can perform well there (hearing from alumni), but I’m concerned by the fact that CS is pretty impacted everywhere. Would my chances at transfer be good two years down the line? Just need other opinions, I’m still going to visit CPP and see if I like the campus. Thanks!
