Community?

What's the community like a UConn? I know at a larger school it can be hard to feel connected with other students, teachers, etc...is this the case here?

Is there a certain type of student who tends to gravitate towards UConn and be successful there?

I can tell you from a visiting parent prospective, that it is a college setting surrounded by a rural area. It was so rural we actually thought we were lost on the way, but then it opened up to a very beautiful campus. My niece who has lived in Philadelphia, a large city and Wilmington a small city loved the campus. It’s its own community. The dining facilities were nice and the gym was outstanding. They didn’t seem to have a very active fraternity/sorority system, but my niece was ok with that because she wasn’t planning to pledge. I know a lot of college’s social scene revolve around frat parties but not here it seems. Hope that helps.
