Compare: UMass Amherst, UDel, GWU

Recently, I was accepted into UMass, UDel and GWI. Unfortunately, I can't decide which one to attend as a history/economics major next year. Each offer has pros:

UMass: In state, Commonwealth Honors College, 2000 scholarship, John and Abigail Adams scholarship

UDel: OOS, 11000 scholarship, some grant money

GWU: location, facilities, history department

And cons:

UMass: Many kids from my school are going

UDel: Could be the same education as UMass but more expensive

GWU: Gave me no money

I'm leaning towards UMass. However, I would still like to hear more detailed opinions on the other two schools.

UMASS…don’t worry that too many kids from your school are going there…try not to stay in Southwest and chances are you won’t see much of them unless you want to. My son’s in the same boat and fell in love wit UMASS.

If I remember you correctly from another post, you’re a twin, correct?

Doesn’t that technically mean you’ll be recieving half price tuition from GW, should your twin choose to attend there as well?
And have you recieved financial aid information from GW yet? You should with hold making a decision until you get that info.

As a history and economics major, D.C is definitely the place to be. You’ll learn so much just from living in the area, and think of the internship opportunites available!

UMass Amherst is defintely a fantastic school, and their honors college is top notch. However, knowing a bunch of people at a school is a real thing to consider. Do you have any friends already committed to going there who might cling to you and prohibit you from making new friends or really getting close to anyone?

UDel is a beautiful school and they gave a good amount of money, plus tuition there is less expensive than GW. While its not instate, leaving home is half the fun of college isn’t it?

The decision is really up to you though, just amke sure to properly weigh the pros and cons!

Languagegirl25, you seem to have a lot of inside knowledge about this poster. Are you two best friends? ;)

GWU is significantly better than the other two schools. If you can afford it, go there. Otherwise, just go to the cheapest option as the other two schools are not worth taking on any debt.

GWU is NOT significantly better than UMASS - that is a joke. Go to UMASS.
