How would you rank the social life at these schools. This is how I would rank them, but maybe I’m looking it them all wrong. I would really appreciate your opinion.

I'm not overly familiar with these schools, but here is what I know.

SDSU - Overrated

ASU - Hottest girls

UCSB - University of Casual Sex and Beer

Indiana - Homosexual Capital of the Midwest (If you are into that sort of thing)

UMiami - Lame if underage

Pepperdine - Unfamiliar with

Go to Ole Miss or Bama or anywhere in the SEC for the most ridiculous parties.

That have a huge frat scene, with a giant greek row on campus. Pacific Beach and Downtown San Diego are minutes away. Mexico is only 20min. away too.

UMiami - That is what fake id's are for.

As for Indiana, I didn't know that. hmm.. that's kind of weird.....where did you pick this information up?

SDSU is overrated because the "party frat boys" are a bunch of meatheads in Abercrombie muscle tee's who tan, wear ripped jeans, listen to techno, and use globs of gel to spike their hair is so pathetic. That is barely stereotyping the school. To associate that image with the concept of a fraternity is downright awful. We would never let a kid like that join up.

Fake ID's are lame and too much trouble. Just have the kids old enough to buy alcohol get all of the beer. Clubs are terrible, anyway.

Yes, Bloomington, Indiana is the Gay Capital of the Midwest. Socially, IU is the most liberal Big Ten school. I think that all dates back to when they didn't fire Kinsey doing all of the sex research stuff back in the '50s.

I didn't want to apply to Wisconsin anymore, bc it is said to be the Berkeley of the midwest.

I don't want to be at a completely one sided school. Especially if it is all liberal.

I don't know if politics will affect my decision, bc right now I'm pretty apolitical since I can't vote. I guess I'll just have to see.

As for SDSU that is just the norm for a typical socal person. As for techno......I've never heard of a person listening to that. Everyone listens to rap.

UW is far from one-sided. The Young Republicans have a large club. It even has two student daily papers--liberal and moderate conservative. There are more frats than co-ops. These days it is middle of the road. The radical days were 40 years ago.

pepperdine is affiliated with the Church of Christ, so it tends to be very conservative. that may put a damper on the idea of traditional college 'fun'

My D did an overnight at Indiana--had an older friend who attended there.

Major party scene, although it can't compare in location to San Diego or Pepperdine--it's out in the middle of nowhere. However, Bloomington is sort of centered around the campus, so there are some great little restaurants/bars/shops walking distance. It's a HUGE campus and actually very pretty (considering it's in the Midwest and the weather in the winter is rough).

huskemm55 - I have visited Pepperdine, and have talked to current students. People make it out to be so strict and conservative because of the religion thing, but it really isn't.

The students seemed to be more apolitical than anything. And there is plenty to do on and around campus. People go to frat parties and off-campus parties all of the time. And with the beach so close there is always something to do. Also the bars/clubs of LA are just 25min. away.

And while the campus won't be loaded with drunk students, a lot of them, will be getting wasted at some mansion over-looking the beach.
