Competing with your best friend?

My friend and I have been 'fighting' to be ranked first since freshman year- one of us has always been number one. However, although I DO want to be valedictorian, I can honestly say that I would (eventually... by graduation, anyway =) ) be happy if my friend ended up ranked first. We balance each other out, anyway. I'm better at English and Science than her, and she's better at Math and History, so there's never too much drama. And, we always help each other out. Being competitive is one thing, and being ruthless and obsessive is another thing ENTIRELY.

I'm in the circle at my school will all the top-ranked people and I feel like we all push each other in friendly competition. Freshman year, actually, I had really different friends, and you can really tell by looking at my grades. I love the competitive atmosphere I'm in now, because it isn't too cutthroat, but helps me to achieve more. [Although I do know a few ruthless people].

i think that i do sometimes but i try to view myself as competing against against the national class of 2007, like all u CCers, lol, even though i won't measure up to like 99.99999999999999% of y'all

haha, i compete with my best friend in everything. We had Chemistry last semester and i happened to get him with a 100 and he got a 98. His GPA and class rank (3.9 30/346) is wayyy better than mine (3.5 70/346) just because i wasnt that serious about school my freshman and sophomore year.

i don't like competing with my friends and usually do not have to since many of them go to other schools. however, my best friend from middle school is pretty competitive and it gets kind of touchy when i talk to her about colleges. i don't see why people can't help each other esp when they are friends. this is high school and it's not like you'll lose your job when one person is better than you.

Haha, I belong to the "gothic" clique so I have no competition for grades. Most of my friends are just trying to not FAIL and I am doing about the same amount of work as them and flying through with a 3.8. (I'm really bad at foreign language which is why my GPA is low.)

well i get better grades than my friends, but i don't really try to do better than them. they just happen to be even more lazy than i am. we're a clique of lazy bums. =)

Yes, compete with him\her and beat him\her. :)

It's gotten to the point now where when somebody in my class realizes they have scored higher than me on a test or quiz, they blurt out to the class: "YEAH! I beat Tyler! Woohoo!"

Makes me feel quite good inside...

Hmm not really my friends... well sort of, but I'm at the top of all my classes so I just need to stay that way :P

I compete with my boyfriend though (who is a year below me BTW)... he is so brilliant. I'm just glad he's not in my grade.

im not really competitive like some people out there who are so obesessive about beating other people. if my friend gets a higher score than me then so be it but i wont cry or go insane just because my friend beats me (sometimes all the time)

i think all friends compete on some level, especially at my school.

There is kind of like a competitive cluster of kids that I suppose Im friends with. Its mainly just all in good fun and never too serious.

YES, YES, and... yes. :] Me and my friends are for the most part at the top of my class. One of my cloest friends is the soon to valedictorian, and I'm right behind her. 3rd is from another circle of friend (most of her circle makes the top 10 like ours), but we're still close. 4th is another good friend of mine. And believe 7th or 8th is my best friend.

One thing I regret is that the competition has BGECOME part of our friendship. I would've much rather kept a social and an academic relationship. Nevertheless, the competiton drives me and there's many an inside joke that arises from it.

I never cry if my friends beat me, because they never do. :)

Because you have no friends! AHHAHAHAHAA
jk.

I will make you cry. One day. Eventually.

Haha not really, but the girl I perpetually help with chemistry has a higher class rank then me.
