I have a quick question. If I know that there are 10-15 other people applying ea to georgetown, does that mean I have a smaller chance of getting accepted just because there are so many qualified applicants from my school? or will our applications be viewed in comparison to the rest of the region we are in/state/etc.?

Thank you!

No. Some schools - you can probably figure out which ones - have dozens of students accepted by Georgetown each year.

or will our applications be viewed in comparison to the rest of the region we are in/state/etc.?

Your application is viewed in the context of your school (region is included in that context, but so are many other things). The comparison isn’t you to your classmates, but you to what’s possible. To what extent did you take advantage of available opportunities and achieve at a high level within that context?

So are you essentially saying that it does not matter if many students from your (competitive) school are applying, because their applications will be read on a state-wide basis??

More like they’re read on a school-wide basis, with the entirety of the school’s context (including what state it is in) taken into account.

If the school is such that it produces a significant number of competitive candidates (geographic diversity being one of many variables in what makes up a competitive candidate), then a larger number could be accepted.
