competitions - activity or award?

I do math and computer programming competitions. I think the math ones will go in awards because they occur once a year but i prep for them regularly during the year. so should i put that under activities (cause really, it is an activity) or awards?

as for competitive programming, alot of the ones i do occur regularly and there are no formal "awards" although sometimes they have rating systems. the way i see it, it's like a normal "extracurricular activity" like sports competitions except it's not school related

but i would appreciate advice! thanks!!!

I think that these computer programming competitions should be for both Extracurricular and awards. Not really the answer to your question… I know. I believe that this can be done by verifying the differences between the two. See if you can get those informal awards to reveal some kind of accomplishment. I do not know much about how these competitions are like award wise but try revealing your rank compared to your competitors. Assuming it is a very good rank, you can reveal to them your accomplishments through words such as “best ranked”/“top ranked computer programmer at ____ competition”. Don’t let all your hard work of preparation and time at competitions go to waste. Use your words and vocab wisely! I am just a HS junior but hopefully, I helped. I wish you the best of luck! :)
