@KYMom25 The suspense! We are waiting to hear from one more school re: a competitive scholarship. The notification date is not firm and most people say it will be towards the “end of February”. I’ve adjusted that in my head to “by March 1st” in an effort to not think about it constantly.
@Midwest67 Yes, the suspense is killing me! Best of luck on the final competitive scholarship!
Has anyone heard anything today? The suspense is killing me!
Nothing in the mail today for me…lets hope that Tuesday is different!
Nothing here either! Went ahead and did housing today since deadline is Monday…
Saw something online from admissions saying that final decisions have been made…would assume that means letters should be coming this week!
psuky1 - can you provide a link to the information you saw?
The admissions office has a tumblr page they answer questions on. One of the more recent answers says final decisions have been made and so I just figured that means they are being sent out or already have been sent out in the mail. Here’s a link to the page: http://applyuk.■■■■■■■■■■
Thanks psuky1! Good luck to everyone - please post as soon as you hear anything.
@catlover606 @psuky1 Official letter came today. Presidential Scholarship for my son.
Just got my letter in the mail today, no singletary, but was awarded presidential.
Congratulations @psuky1! You should be very proud for receiving Presidential.
No singletary for us. Disappointed, we had the presidental through GSP and that is the final offer.
Sorry to hear that @catlover606. Disappointed here as well, but my son didn’t do GSP so happy to have received Presidential.
@KYMom25 @psuky1 @catlover606 The Presidential is a four year, full tuition award, isn’t it? It may not be as generous as the Singletary, but nevertheless, it’s wonderful news! Congratulations!
Thank you @Midwest67. Yes, you are correct, four year, full tuition award. It is definitely wonderful news and trying to keep that attitude. We knew Singletary was extremely competitive (my understanding is only 50 out of, according to the letter from UK, 2000 qualified applicants), but having the interview, we were still hopeful we would be one of the lucky 2.5%. Thank you very much for the Congratulations!
Slightly different, but related topic. Anyone in this group in Honors College and doing Merit Weekend? Still not sure what S will decide, but would like to make connections with potential classmates/roommates…
@KYMom25 I’ve been contemplating whether to attend merit weekend or not. I was accepted into the honors college as well but I’m still not positive about spending 250 on the merit weekend because I’m not certain I’m going to UK yet. Are there any big benefits to it other than scheduling classes early ( I have heard that honors students usually get the classes they want anyways so I don’t know how important this really is)? And do you have any clue when we must be signed up? Congrats on presidential btw!
Thanks @psuky1. Exact same story here. S has a ‘full ride’ to another University so contemplating on paying to go to UK or taking advantage of being debt free. I do believe that is the main benefit of Merit Weekend, scheduling classes early, and not having to keep time open for the summer, I guess. It is ‘first come, first served’ so think it probably depends on your major and how quickly it fills up…
I also just found out that half of the 250 is refundable if you don’t enroll at UK. With that being said , I believe I will more than likely go ahead and register for merit weekend. UK is one of my top choices so it’s probably a good experience to see if it truly is a good fit, and if I do decide to attend there it’s nice to have the early registration for classes.
