Really? What is the reason for that? I thought it was financial decisions cuz getting rid of animals "removed costly expense" and adults will pay more.

shrewd financial decision was correct
the entire passage was about how the new circus was successful in gaining adult's interests, and the last line of the passage said it was huge success in earning admission fee.

@fireman, I don't remember ... we had a discussion about that before. I put adults... so I'm hoping that's correct. :P
The question was what did the author say was the reason for the success of the Cirque... (not what was implied)... and the passage said:
'The Cirque didn't use animals and survived that ... but even more important (or something) was that the Cirque introduced a new tradition when it brought in not only children... etc... ' (something along those lines... I read the passage twice and these lines three times).

So, I think it's adults.

Anyway, yea, that sunshine one was one of the EXCEPT/NOT questions... It was like what is the last para not meant to suggest... or something.

For the rattlesnakes one, I remember that there was a question that involved the Native Americans in the second passage, like how the Native Americans appreciated the snakes?

@ Feed, I'm pretty sure adult is correct, I don't remember many financial decisions made - the decision to not include animals is not as much of a financial decision as it is a "new trend" for the animal protection stuff. And yes, they did stress the adults - not just children audience.

about the shrewd financial decision one, i am still not sure if it is adults or not.
many students in my ap lit class said it was financial decision... :(
