Compilation of SAT 1 Math, October 8

for the number line problem, I don't see how any answer other than E)not enough information is possible.

I am talking about this one:
There were five points, they gave you that AB was 3, BD was 7, CE was 9. They then wanted distance CD or BE.

If anyone would like to explain to me the answer to the problem that takes my 800 away I would appreciate it

That question was experimental.

sweet i think i got an 800 on Math
of course i could be wrong...

Flipsta_G, I only remember having 3 math sections.....so I am pretty sure I didn't have an experimental math section

how many can u miss and still get an 800? 780?

at most one omission for an 800. 780 probably 1 wrong.

lol why does it matter between an omission and something wrong?

anybody remember the 21 marbles question, I got 1 as my probability, didn't the question ask what the prob that you would pick one of each color? (10 each)

"at most one omission for an 800. 780 probably 1 wrong."

There's no difference between one omitted and one wrong. Your raw score is still going to be the same (because they round to the nearest whole number, and getting a question wrong is only -0.25 points).

i didn't get that marbles question (i had experimental verbal). it must be experimental..?

Flipsta_G: Was the computer one experimental or not???

i believe the one with the votes was 75,000
Because i think the question said:

In a student council race, Perez beat Gina by a ratio of 5 :3. If there were 120000 total votes, how many votes did Perez get?

Perez = 75000

Also, one question asked which of the following cannot equal a(ab-ak)

or something...the answer was c i think.

and how was the video rental one not 130,000?

how do you know which is the experimental already? and was the (x/y)(x+y) experimental or normal?

does anyone remember the question that was like "8/24 people are female, the females gain 50% but the total number of people in the group remained the same, so what percentage of the men had to leave?" it was really easy but i wasnt thinking and i got it wrong. does anyone know if it was on the experimental section or not? im hoping...

experimetnal...definetly

"Flipsta_G, I only remember having 3 math sections.....so I am pretty sure I didn't have an experimental math section"

Well I know I didn't get that problem or the computer problem, so I assmed it was experimental. Bu if you are sure you only got 3 math sections total, then it couldn't have been your experimental.

Slacker, you got both of those wrong, sorry. For the votes one, although the RATIO is 3:5, in orderto find the actual number of votes you have to divide by total to make it 3/(3+5). Then you would multiply 120000 by the 3/8 to get 45000. Think about it...the guy we are asked to find out about is the LOSER. But in your solution you gave him more votes than the winner...

I think I know why you messed up on the video rrental one too. They gave you extraneous information, the average number of customers for the PREVIOUS year as well as the year they asked about. I think you added in the amount of sales for the previous year also, unwittingly. The answer was 46000.

d@amn..yeah i got the video wrong one and i did it too fast. But yeah....i know how to get the ratio one. 3 plus five equals eight. Get that number divide by 120000 and multiply it by the ratio. Maybe i did put 45000...its just real hard to remeber. Since it specifically asked for the loser than i probably did bubble in 45000. The reason i might be thinking 75k is because i added it to 45000 just to make sure it was 120k (which it obviously was)....anyway.....it dosen't really matter now. But yeah, that sucks real bad about the video rental one......

It was 45000, it asked for the loser.

And it wasn't E for the number line, there was definitely enough information. You had to use the provided angles, and the fact that opposite angles are equivalent and other basic geometric crap. I remember C, although I may not remember correctly. There was easily enough info though.

was the video rental question the one with Store A and Store B?

Yea...10 char
