Completely torn

I have recieved all of my letters back and have narrowed my choices down to Georgetown (Business school), Emory, Michigan, and UVA. Now i am completely torn. As someone looking to pursue a career in business, possibly a finance major, and also looking to eventually move back to the northeast (I live outside philly), what would make the most sense. I did recieve scholarships, but money is not going to play a factor in my decision. When I went to visit georgetown the other day, I found that I loved it. Though it is not ranked as well as other undergraduate business programs, from what I heard, I learned that the prestige of the university plays a huge role in eventual job search and also that the connections you make are undeniably great. I'm going to see the other three schools next week, so I don't have as much knowledge on them. Hopefully somebody can guide me in the right direction. Anything would be really appreciated

Oh, I am planning on working for two years or so, then going back for an MBA

Georgetown's business school is considered to be a joke. Even on-campus the business students are regarded as slackers. Political science and law are very strong there, not business. I hear the nursing school is also impressive.

The other three are all fine, but if you really got into UVA and don't enroll, some people would think you're crazy. It's a very good, affordable school. Emory is great, but it's expensive. I can't say much about Michigan, but Michigan is highly ranked I believe.

UVA business is excellent, I would have to reccomend UVA. Post more on the UVA board... there was a very in-depth discussion about econ and whatnot at UVA

I am going to study finance and will probably attend Emory. I can tell you that I chose Emory because it is different from many of the top business programs in the countries. If money doesn't matter, then you have to decide what factors are most important to you. Michigan and Emory are going to have different student bodies, student/teacher ratios... (I can't say much for UVA, except a friend of mine applied and has a very high opinion of it). However, I had a friend that enrolled in Michigan for business after being accepted into Penn and other top business programs. So, I think it comes down to where you feel most comfortable, because UVA, Mich, and Emory all have great schools.

I'd think about whether I wanted a big or small school. The size of the school will affect class sizes, student to faculty ratios, and social life. At UVa you have a student faculty ratio of 15:1, and on the other end of the spectrum, at Emory you have a ratio of 5:1. These are some good schools! I hope you find the one that's best for you.

i think uva is great, i got accepted to uva and emory as well as wustl. it also depends on your financial status, if you prefer a less expensive school choose uva.

georgetown is only really good for pol.sci and law.
