Completing math series at one college (UC Berkeley Math 54).

I took math 2A at De Anza and math 2B at Foothill (these are colleges in the same district). Would this count to credit out of Math 54? I’m confused because on Assist it mentions how courses in a series must be taken at that single college for it to be credited. However, at least for Assist, that paragraph only mentions this for engineering majors and for math majors it says

The Department of Mathematics considers courses from other institutions to be comparable if there is an overlap of roughly 80% of the Berkeley material (based on a course outline or syllabus). Transfer students’ preparation for a
particular Berkeley course will vary widely in breadth, depth, and rigor.

Since math 2B at Foothill is basically the same at De Anza, I’m assuming that it overlaps with roughly 80% of Berkeley material in both cases? Is it only for engineering majors which:

If a series of courses at a community college is required (e.g., English 1A + 1B + 103 = English R1A and R1B), all the courses in the series must be completed, and must (unless otherwise indicated) be completed at the same community
college.

applies? It only says this for engineering majors on Assist.

Seems like there are two issues:

A. Whether De Anza MATH 2A + Foothill MATH 2B = UCB MATH 54 for the purpose of checking off required courses for your major when your application is being considered for admission (assuming your major requires MATH 54).

B. Whether De Anza MATH 2A + Foothill MATH 2B = UCB MATH 54 after you enroll and are checking off graduation requirements.

Seems like it should not be hard to get the UCB math department to approve case B (keep the syllabi and course materials to show them). But whether admissions knows or can figure out case A is another story.

I’m going to guess that you’ll be ok with both A and B scenarios For sure B would be ok. I know people who have to take classes sometimes at Mission and sometimes at West Valley due to lack of availability at one place or another (for example, West Valley doesn’t offer MV Calculus this summer and you have to go to Mission in order to take it) and often, schools like Berkeley have to piece together transcripts.

I’d be curious as to what the outcome is.
