Complications with the graded essay

I don’t have typed papers with written comments, so my dilemma is thus:

Do I give them a paper and just add an additional grade explaining what grade I was given, why, and how the convoluted grading scale works in my high school?

Do I scan one of my handwritten papers and just hope they can read it? I would still have to add something that explained the grading scale…

I could always not turn in a paper, but my act writing score was a 7, and I don’t feel like that really displays my ability to write well, though I could also argue that my skill level is displayed in my essays?? I don’t know. I need some advice, hence the new discussion.

My son ended up not applying to Brown, but when he was considering it and facing a similar problem, we decided to turn in a handwritten paper plus attach its typed version for easier reading.

For anyone who would like to know the outcome (because people very rarely post outcomes and I know I appreciate it when they do) I ended up writing an explanation letter for my school’s grading system partially copied from our website for clarity, I took a screenshot of my grade and my teacher’s comment (because it was turned in online), and downloaded my essay, then merged everything into one big pdf and submitted it. Hopefully that’ll suffice.
