Computer Engineering and Economics Double Major

I’m an incoming freshman and I’m currently enrolled in Computer Engineering. However, I am also interested in doing economics and was thinking of double majoring. Initially, I wanted to also do Managerial Economics but that has like 120 credits so it would be impossible in 4 years, so I looked to basic Economics which has around 40 credits. If I wanted to finish college in 4 years, could I double major in Comp Engineering and Econ while maintaining a high GPA and a good social life?

Thanks

Computer Engineering is unfortunately not a major with a lot of wiggle room and overlap opportunities with economics. I don’t know the econ/man econ requirements very well but I do know the CE requirements. If you were to double major, your econ classes would have to cover all of the GE requirements because you aren’t really going to have the time to take classes that don’t count towards either of the major requirements within 4 years. An econ minor is definitely doable, but a double major might take some long hard staring at course requirements and rules.
You should also consider your post-college life. Would a strong background in both economics and computer engineering help you get the job/career you want after you graduate? Or can you get away with a knowledge of econ and a strong background in computer engineering or whatever you decide?

For the fall, I would suggest you start by taking an econ class and EEC 1 seeing what you want to pursue further.

A word of advice though; a double major, high GPA, finishing in 4 years, AND a good social life? I got 3/4 of those and I was exhausted by the end. College is a whole different ball game compared to high school.
