I’m a senior currently applying for colleges and I just wanted to get an idea if I should take a shot at applying for UC Irvine for Computer Science. I know nothing is ever set in stone, but having a picture would really help me out.
My stats are: 4.6 Weighted Gpa, 3.914 UWeighted
Rank #16 in my school out of a senior class of 550 students
2210 SAT(730 Math, 740 CR, 750 Writing)
SAT II: 760-US History, 720-Math2 (i took U.S. history before i got into coding and discovered what I wanted to major in.
EC: Chief Editor(President) of my school journalism Club
Former Secretary and now Vice President of an SAS(School for Advanced Studies) Leadership Cabinet.
Letter of Commendation for PSAT
I know UC Irvine is a competitive school, so just having a picture of what I should do would be so helpful. It’s okay to be blunt, my future is more important than my feelings.
Also, I realize that my desired major and Extracurriculars dont seem to match, I only very recently discovered my love for coding. However, these leadership positions required me to make connections, make fast decisions, communicate effectively, and lead others toward a specific goal. They very much contributed to my growth as a person, and I believe these traits can only help me down the road.
UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Your GPA looks competitive along with your SAT scores. UCI looks like a Match.
Yes, UC Weighted. Also, am I at too much of a big disadvantage for not being top 10 in my class? My only B’s came from freshman year, when I was struggling to not only adjust to high school and family issues. Although I like to think that my UC GPA reflects that I have worked hard, my ranking certainly took a tanking from freshman year.
If your only B’s are Freshman year, then you are fine. No worries.
