I’m currently a freshman at UMich, deciding whether it’d be advantageous to pursue a double major in CS and Art. Immediately after college, I aspire to work with user interfaces/app design/something at least slightly visual that requires programming.
The issue is whether the Art degree (versus just getting a minor) is worth it. Cost and time are not an issue for me, but I am concerned with whether majoring would give me an advantage and how that would impact my chances of attending a graduate school/b-school. I’m more or less gifted in the visual arts, and I’d like to capitalize on this skill, if possible. I have very little experience in programming, and I am concerned with attaining a decent GPA, if that means anything.
