I graduated high school in 2009 and attended a community college for three years then took a year off to figure out what I wanted to do. I found an interest in computer science and I did some research about UT`s computer science program and found that it was a very reputable school for the major. Has anyone else heard that as well? Also, the problem I am dealing with is my grades at the community college are not the best. I have a 2.9 gpa, currently. I live in ohio but my brother lives in houston texas. The plan is to retake some courses at my community college and some computer classes to raise my gpa then move in with my brother for a year to establish residency then apply for admission to UT-Austin for computer science.
Would this plan be your Ideal choice considering the situation? Should I go to Texas or stay in Ohio? What steps should I take to ensure that my credits would transfer over? Should I get my associates at my community college and then apply to UT-Austin when I am ready, would that ensure that most my credits would transfer? OR should I transfer my credits to a community college down there and take classes and then apply to UT-Austin when the time is right? I have been ripping my hair out stressing over this for the last few months, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
