Chances and/or other recommendations- Out of sight reach 1%-10%, far reach 11-20% , reach, slight reach, match, or something like that...
ALso, not inclined for e.d. in order to review other prospects

Carnegie Mellon
Rose Hulman
Washington University- STL
Case Western
University of ILL Champaign
Rice
Purdue
RPI

Thanks for your help and opinions

wow, my stats are almost as identical as your son's ( other than the programming!). and I'm also looking at schools with good comp sci programs.

Rose is a great little school.
Rice is a reach, but keep it on the list.

i agree with bandit, rice is definitely a reach, but RPI is a safety for your son. Try contact the RPI admin and see what deal/scholarships they can work out for you son. I dont think he has a great shot at the RPI metals award (because of the rank), but he can definitely get some good scholarships in RPI.

U of illinois look at a lot of your standarized test scores rather than focusing than ECs so that could be a match for your son. (Purdue is easy too)

But u of washington and carnegie mellon are not very easy to get into. Suppose he could improve his SAT by 50-100 points?

Only personal opinions b/c i was visiting and contacting the same schools...

I like the list and I agree with others when they say he needs to improve the SAT a little.
